The personality of Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart, a genius in music was interesting for me as an artist and as a listener of music as well. Mozart’s music enchants with its lightness, love for life, enthusiasm, and freedom.
When you listen to some piece of music or look at a work of art, you subconsciously start thinking about its creator – what kind of person was that man who lived many centuries ago? How did he look like? How did he dress? Where did he live? What did he think about? Whom did he love?
It is known that there exist 10 portraits of Mozart painted in his lifetime and all of them are different. I think that the personality of a genius is so multifaceted that a painter cannot reveal all the sides of the soul of the model. But never the less I tried to create my image of this great musician sitting at his favorite harpsichord with a glass of punch which he also loved dearly and writing yet another immortal piece of music.
The life of Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart was full of love, sufferings, fame, friendship and of course music!!! A great part of his life was undoubtedly dedicated to music and now four centuries after we listen to his pieces of music with great pleasure!
I made this sculpture in 2004 under the influence of Mozart’s music that I listened to quite frequently at that time.
